Semester Send Off

The J. Blue Practicum is a two semester practicum, so unfortunately, we must say goodbye to three members in their second semester: Asha Martel, Henry Dunham, and Erica Chronic. It has been a joy having them on the team, and we are excited to see what the future holds for each one of them. But first, we are going to briefly reflect on their time at J. Blue.

Looking back, Erica said her favorite part of the practicum was the fact she got to work with real clients in an agency environment. "It is one thing to learn about marketing skills in various classes, but applying those skills is a completely different experience," according to Erica. The practicum taught Erica a lot of valuable lessons, such as the importance of communication. She said, “communication is key. You, your client, their vision. It is of the utmost importance that these three can work together.” Erica strongly believes the best outcomes occur when all teams are on the same page.

Henry said he will miss working in a collaborative environment with people who really wanted J. Blue to succeed. He also really enjoyed his time in the client acquisition role. This role strengthened his networking skills which will benefit him in his post graduate position at Eli Lilly and Company as a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative. In addition, Henry learned the art of flexibility. He often jumped from team to team in order to assist other members. Henry encourages future members of the practicum to be open to all the opportunities that come from this class and don’t be afraid to ask for help.

The most valuable skill Asha learned during her time at J. Blue was how to collaborate with a team and manage multiple clients at once. She credits the J. Blue team for teaching her how to be the best marketer and manager. Asha advises younger students to take risks, “Creighton provides a safe space to take a risk in your career, take a leap and try something new! Whether you apply for a practicum or interview for an internship that you never would have previously considered, do your best and put yourself out there.” After graduation, Asha hopes to pursue a career that combines her love for public relations and marketing.
